American College of Surgeons (ACS) September 30th -October 4th, 2012 in Chicago, Illinois

Drs. Ross and Rosemurgy attended the 100th annual American College of Surgeons Conference in Chicago, Illinois. They presented two surgical videos regarding Laparo-Endoscopic Single Site(LESS) Toupet Fundoplication for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and the Standardization of LESS Cholecystectomy (removal of the gallbladder) which details the steps of this most innovative surgical approach. The audience was very receptive inquiring about our practice techniques and specialty in Minimally Invasive Surgery. Two posters were presented by two of our mentees focusing on the patient perception of women in surgery and gender equality of women surgeons this is a hot topic as more and more women pursue medicine, and are challenged with issues of equality in the workplace. Additionally the Association of Women Surgeons (AWS) was held in conjunction with the ACS and Dr. Ross had an opportunity to converse with many members who now are becoming more involved in the planning for our 4th Annual Women in Surgery Conference being hosted by UCSF, in San Francisco, California, June7-9th, 2013.
